Fingertip privacy for the social media age — TESAKI HOGO

A peace sign or a close-up of your hand can be enough for your fingerprints to be read from the image. TESAKI HOGO detects your fingertips with AI and blurs the ridges, so you can post safely. Nothing is uploaded — every image is processed entirely inside your own device.

What it does

Images are processed locally on your device

All AI processing (Google MediaPipe) and image editing in this app are executed entirely within your device's browser. Your selected images are never sent to an external server. (*A temporary internet connection is required only when saving to verify the usage limit.)

Why is fingerprint protection necessary?

Uploading high-resolution photos of hands taken with modern smartphones directly to social media poses a risk. Image analysis can be used to replicate fingerprints and bypass biometric authentication (like unlocking your smartphone).

Automatic removal of GPS location (EXIF data)

EXIF data, such as GPS location info (latitude and longitude) included in photos taken with smartphone cameras, is automatically removed during image rendering. You can safely share your photos without the risk of exposing your home location.

How to use it

Blur the fingerprints in a photo of your hands in three steps.

  1. Pick a photo of your hands
Choose the photo you want to post, from your phone or your computer. The image never leaves your device.
  2. Let the AI find and blur your fingertips
Fingertips are detected automatically. You can move and resize each box by hand, or paint over anything the AI missed with the blur brush.
  3. Save it and post
EXIF data, including the GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken, is stripped automatically when you save.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos stored on a server?

No. All image processing happens inside the browser on your own device, and the data is cleared from memory once processing is finished.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in your browser straight away. If you use it often, "Add to Home Screen" lets it start like an app.

Is it free?

Yes. The free plan has a limit on saves and adds a watermark, but every core feature is available. One-time paid plans are also available.

Can fingerprints really be read from a photo?

It has been pointed out that the ridges of a fingerprint can be made out in close-up hand photos taken with a high-resolution camera. It does not happen every time, but unlike a password, a fingerprint cannot be changed once it leaks. Blurring before you post is the safer choice.

What devices and browsers does it work on?

iPhone, Android and desktop all work, as long as you have a recent browser such as Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox. There is nothing to install.

What happens to the GPS data stored in my photo?

All EXIF data is removed when you save. The latitude and longitude of where the photo was taken do not survive, so the image cannot give away your home.

What if the fingertips are not detected properly?

Every detected box can be moved and resized by hand. You can also add extra boxes, paint over missed spots with the blur brush, or undo areas with the eraser.
